Hyundai Veloster N TCR: 355 HP and everything you need for the circuit
Hyundai has presented the Veloster N TCR at the Detroit Auto Show. Ready to compete in this year's IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, this race car will compete with the Audi RS3 LMS TCR, the Honda Civic Type R TCR and the Volkswagen Golf GTI TCR.
Not an easy competition , but the Veloster already has racing pedigree. As Hyundai pointed out, this car c shares nearly 85% of its components with the i30 N TCR , current championship winner.
An engine at the height of competition
One of the components of the i30 N is its four-cylinder turbocharged engine. 2.0 liters that yields 355 HP and 450 Nm of maximum torque. But what is more important for this type of cars: this engine is associated with a six-speed sequential transmission that sends the power to the front wheels.
What it takes to be a TCR
Of course, race cars are more than just a high-performance engine and a short-ratio box. That's why the Veloster N TCR has body parts made of composite (much lighter than metal), a large rear spoiler and 18-inch alloy wheels. Behind the latter are some competition brakes with six-piston calipers and 380 mm vented discs in the front.
Modifications on the normal Veloster N do not end there, as this TCR version has been equipped with a > aerodynamic body kit , a reinforcing steel cage and a modified track suspension with adjustable shock absorbers. Other highlights are the configurable driver's screen and a Sabelt racing seat with a six-point harness.
